Etterbeek
is a dense innercity multicultural community. Just a short distance
from the
Euro-district. It is probably the most diverse borough of
Brussels in terms of variety in ethnicity, language, country of
birth, income ,religion, and level of education.
You will see rich eurocrats, unassuming Belgian clercs, young Spanish
housecleaners, freshly arived Romanian unemployed, Moroccan teasippers,
students, and Pakistan entrepreneurs in their
nightshops. Allthough part of Etterbeek is certainly gentrifying,
the lower income parts of the municipality are still holding their own
with cheap rents for small rooms and flats for people from all over the
world. |

communications in the northern and eastern part of Etterbeek are
excellent with four underground metrostations: Merode, Boileau,
Thieffry, and Petillon. Because of the densely built-up area of
Etterbeek and the proximity of the Institutions and many other offices,
parking is horrific. Either have a garage or get rid of your car. |
