Woluwe
consists of two seperate municipalities:
Sint-Lambrechts Woluwe and Sint-Pieters Woluwe in Dutch. In French: Woluwe- Saint-Lambert and Woluwe-Saint-Pierre.
These two entities have a couple of things in common.
Both the median household income and the level of education
are
above Brussels average. A considerable percentage of the population
consists of, well educated, European immigrants. And major parts of
Woluwe are very well connected with the centre of Brussels, the
Eurodistrict and other parts of town by means of the metro.
Major
thoroughfares guarantee a speedy acces to the ring road. Tunnels on the
Avenue de Tervuren and the Avenue Kennedy assure, outside the rush
hours, an excellent connection by car with the city centre. Quality of
housing is in the whole of Woluwe generally outstanding.
Ther are some differences as well. Especially Asian immigrants
(Vietnamese, Phillipino,Chinese, Pakistani, and Indians) seem to have
discovered Woluwe Saint Lambert the last decade.
In Woluwe Saint Lambert the percentage apartments as of the total of
dwellings is significantly higher than in Saint Pierre. The latter
accomodates many townhouses with gardens and it has the magnificent
Woluwe Park. Woluwe Saint Lambert has the ever expanding Woluwe
Shopping Center, at the Roodebeek metro stop, within its borders
grondgebied. Winning the war with Place Dumon about most predominant,
most elegant shopping precinct in the east of Brussels.
